Country Overview
Argentina is a huge country. In fact, it is the seventh largest country in the world with an area of 3,761,274 km² and a total population of 47 million inhabitants.
It is located in the south of the American continent and in its extensive territory there are plains, mountains, lakes and a huge maritime coast.
The distance from the northernmost point to the southernmost point is about 3,700 km and allows its inhabitants to experience almost all climates.
Argentina is divided into 24 provinces, and its population is mainly concentrated in large cities.
The capital is the City of Buenos Aires, where the 3 powers of the National State operate and 3 million people live.
There are several points of tourist interest such as the Iguazu Falls, Patagonia, the Andes mountain range with its glaciers and snow-capped peaks for skiing and around 6,000 km of coastline to enjoy all kinds of vacations.
The food industry is the strongest with an important production of cereals and livestock, taking advantage of the extensive plains that the land offers.
In Argentina the official language is Spanish and its currency is the peso.
Education at all levels is free for all inhabitants, which makes it possible to find professionals from various disciplines.
In recent years, our country has been in the news due to high inflation and the strong devaluation of our currency.
Fortunately, the macroeconomic environment is improving a lot and very quickly. President Javier Milei has become a world leader in the free market. Our country is opening up to international markets and investments. Proof of this is that during the last 3 months I have personally received calls from international companies in the direct selling industry interested in learning about the opportunities offered by Argentina with the intention of establishing their operations here.
Direct Selling in Argentina
The Argentine Chamber of Direct Selling (CAVEDI) has 51 years of history, which reflects the important tradition of this industry in the country.
There is currently specific legislation on direct sales in two of the provinces: Buenos Aires and Santa Fe. CAVEDI’s role is to continue promoting the inclusion of laws that accompany our industry and safeguard the good reputation of companies.
With an annual sales of around $700 million in 2023 and around 800,000 independent resellers, Argentina is positioned as an important market globally.
Although Buenos Aires is an important operational center, direct selling is consolidated throughout the country and there are companies in all the provinces of our territory.
There are a large number of international companies in Argentina, including the most important direct selling companies.
With regard to product categories, Argentines continues to choose buying cosmetics and makeup products through the direct sales channel (70% of the industry’s income is from this category). Based on what the industry’s sales reflect worldwide, Argentina has a lot to grow in other categories such as wellness.
